Parque das Ruínas was a house in Santa Teresa that belonged to a socialite of the 50’s in Rio called Laurinda Santos Lobo. When she died, she did not have descendants, so the house was abandoned for a long time. During the 80’s the mayor made a project to transform the house into a cultural space. During that time, some homeless people were invading and living in the house. The government then decided to leave the ruins as they were, and constructed iron platforms and a glass atrium, so visitors could walk into the ruins and appreciate the work and the amazing views from inside the house.
